IIS has just launched the first Latin American online access panel, which covers Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil, after a very successful recruitment over the first three quarters of 2006. The Latin American online panel currently comprises 20,000 households from a forecasted 30,000 by the end of this year.

The main objective of this launch was to help Latin American teams cope with global clients' increasing needs for online research.

Enrique Biancotti, Latin America CEO explains: "Ipsos, the predominant market research leader in the region, must be at the forefront of the online research development in Latin America. First steps include the establishment of online panels in the three main markets-Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico-supported by ambitious PR campaigns.
We appreciate the supportive collaboration of Ipsos Interactive Services and their expertise in the building of panels in emerging countries."

Recruited and managed in compliance with the EFAMRO Quality Rules, the panels have reached the size and demographic structure that allow for online surveys with reasonable samples in all three countries.

"Online research is not yet a commodity in the countries of Latin America, and - given that Ipsos needs to secure a forefront in these regions where the internet penetration is such that we can safely begin to conduct online surveys in these countries - I would say this is the best time for Ipsos to start building a strong online offer for these regions", says Ciprian Sava, IIS Business Development Director.
